Funwayo Mafuleka
Pastor
I am Funwayo (Foon-why-oh) Mafuleka (Mah-foo-lay-Kah) and I was called to be the pastor in October 2018. I graduated from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity and Master of Theology in Preaching. In my home country of Malawi I was a pastor at a baptist church for seven years. My wife Victory and I have 3 children.
I enjoy sports and am learning to woodwork using a CNC machine.

I’ve often said that my family owned the most valuable piece of property in Medway! The reason is that we lived next door to a family who not only invited our family to their church but invited us into their lives! From the time I was 3 years old I was drawn to the joy and love I experienced there, they became “Auntie Gert and Uncle Larry” and my whole family witnessed Jesus not just being part of their lives but the center of their lives! They lived Micah 6:8 “He has shown you oh man what is good and what does the Lord require of you? But to act justly, to love mercy and walk humbly with your God”.
So MVC has been my home church since I was 3 years old. In 3rd grade I joined the children’s choir (The King’s Singers) and for the first time I realized that even as a child my service was valued by the congregation and the Lord. Growing up and through college I invited my friends to come to church, it was and still is my family.
I met a very cute boy in youth group in my junior year of high school. Almost 8 years later married him! My vocation was as a developmental specialist in an Early Intervention Program creating a classroom for children 15 months – 3 years old who have various special needs and their families who are experiencing hardships and issues of many kinds.
It seems singing and teaching have continued to be primary areas of service in my life both here and in my personal spheres of influence.
The verse I would say I continually put in front of me and am challenged by as I live and serve is Luke 10:27,
“Love the Lord with all your heart, soul, strength and mind and love your neighbor as yourself”.
I truly believe our benediction “We go nowhere by accident… .” I can clearly see how God has worked in my life through the teaching, serving and love of the MVC family!

My wife and I bought our first house in 1986. As we moved in, the house painter recommended MVC which I wrote down on a piece of cardboard from a moving box. That piece of cardboard was promptly misplaced. We tried several different churches over the next couple of years until the piece of cardboard was found. I have attended the church since then, and both the church and I have seen each other through good times and challenging times.
I am forever thankful for Christ’s love MVC demonstrated when I lost my wife of 33 years to cancer 10 years ago.
God has seen me through so much and has blessed me with my new bride, Betsy, this past year. (She’s just starting down the aisle in the photo. )
My passion for riding in the PMC continues as I transition to retirement after 43 years in the corporate world.
Psalm 46:10 has become an important verse to me…
“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!”

Deacon
I am a quiet and behind the scenes worker. I have a deep confidence that God is changing me little by little as he points out what is offensive in my actions or behavior. He knows everything about me and I trust him. I find truth and guidance in his word. I love the words of David in Psalm 139:23-4, “Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my thoughts. Point out anything in me that offends you, and lead me along the path of everlasting life.”
I love MVC as a church and a community that made me feel welcome. It teaches the scripture, prays together and is a great place for making and building friendships to share kindness and encouragement with other believers. I enjoy helping others, being outside in the sunshine, yard work, gardening, and reading.

I first came to MVC when I was in High School and a friend invited me to attend youth group. That is where I came to know Christ as my Lord and Savior. Where I experienced the love of God through His people at MVC. People that walked along side of me as I grew in my faith and served the Lord.
MVC is where I met my wife Amy and where we raised our 3 kids, Jeff, Lindsey, and Zack. Amy and I spent a majority of our lives as Medway residents however we have just found our way into a 250 yr old home in Wrentham.

,My family came to Massachusetts from Nova Scotia Canada when I was 7. The story “I had to walk in waist high snow across a field to a 1 room schoolhouse twice a day” was true for me! After moving several times we landed in Franklin. Neighbors across the street invited us to try their church, they had just hired a new young couple as the Pastor.
I met my wife Laurie at church that fall, our 1st date was a youth group mountain climb! At 17 ½ I joined the US Army; I completed my tour as a Sargent and embarked on a series of careers. I became a United States Citizen. Laurie and I married at MVC and eventually settled in Cumberland RI. I am presently a Senior Property Manager for Brigs Condominium Management Company which combines the ways I’ve learned the Lord has gifted me and my ADHD personality.
I have had the privilege of serving MVC on the Oakland Cemetery Care Committee, The Endowment Committee, team taught children’s Sunday School, as a Deacon and now as the Treasurer.
The verse I consider my life verse is Jeremiah 29:11,
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a future and a hope”.

Esther Morales-DeJesus
Office Manager
I am an outgoing, honest, family-oriented, person.
I came to MVC when I was searching for a preschool for my daughter and nephew. During one of the parents’ meetings, the pastor of the church came to introduce himself at the end of his introduction and said, “Remember that there is always a place for your family here at MVC and if you ever need anything the doors are open with no judgment.” A few months later our family faced challenging times and I knew where to turn to for help from his words. I have seen God’s hand on me ever since. Although I was a believer at the time, when I came to MVC I understood what it really meant to be God’s daughter.
I have had the privilege to be part of the staff of MVC as Church Office Manager and I have been in my role for 9 1/2 years!
I love all kinds of food and I love checking out new restaurants with different cuisines. I love shopping and I love a bargain, so I research almost everything before I make a purchase. I especially love spending time with my family. I am the youngest of 5 and my siblings and I are best friends. It’s my desire for my children to have the same close relationship so we spend A LOT of time together.

Office Assistant
I grew up in a superstitious environment in Taiwan that was a mix of Taoism and Buddhism. I never thought I would become a Christian until 1987, when I came to Texas and God quieted my heart, allowing me to understand that He is a true and living God. In fact, God arranged many opportunities for me to know Him throughout my life, but my heart was hardened, and I couldn’t see His work until hardship struck me. Ever since 1987, God has time and time again shown me that He is a loving and powerful God who fully accepts and welcomes me.
When I moved to Medway in 2005 and searched for a church, I knew that the first time I walked through the door, this was the home God prepared for me. Here, I felt welcomed, and when I encountered hardship, all the brothers and sisters in Christ did everything they could to care for me and help me, allowing me to better understand God’s love through them.
In addition to music, I also enjoy photography and I am glad that I can use these two skills to serve the church.
